A small shop that grew up — without losing the work ethic.

Golden Spike Electric Corporation (GSE) was established in 1990 by Darwin Thompson. He sold his motorcycle and bought two fiberglass ladders, a hole-hawg drill, a sawzall, and built a rack for his truck. He served as president while his wife Laurie kept the books as secretary and treasurer.

He and his father Lyman Thompson spent their first years doing small projects in existing residences and new homes. Friends and neighbors hired them to design and complete their electrical work — and referrals carried the company from there.

Today, GSE is a full-service electrical contractor performing residential, commercial and industrial work across northern Utah. We're dedicated to keeping up with the latest technology and code requirements, and our professionally trained electricians install, maintain and service every kind of electrical need — from the design process, through installation, to project completion.
